Step Three – ID check
It is a legal requirement of the DBS that you confirm your identity, therefore we require you to complete an ID check as part of your application.
Before completing this step you should have completed Step Two - payment and online application. If you have not completed Step Two, we will be unable to proceed with your application.
Please view the Identity Checking Form Video Tutorial before submitting your Identity Checking Form:
(Please note this method of ID verification is the cheapest available to our applicants).
Alternatively, if you are unable to have your identity verified by a Responsible Person, the Post Office charge £8.75 over the counter to use their “ID Checking Service”.
To use this service please download and print the "Post Office ID Checking Service Form"
Please note: It is a criminal offence to impersonate another person, assist in an impersonation of another person, or attempt to do so. Fines and/or imprisonment can result. If we suspect you are impersonating someone else we will report the matter to the police.
When to expect your DBS certificate:
Once your application has been received by the DBS you should receive your enhanced certificate in the post within 6 weeks. Please note this is an indicative timescale. If you do not receive your certificate within 6 weeks, please contact the DBS on 0870 90 90 811 selecting option 1.
Ofsted may contact you and request the original copy of your certificate.
Please now proceed to Step Four.
