Step Three – ID check
It is a legal requirement of the DBS that you confirm your identity, therefore we require you to complete an ID check as part of your application.
Before completing this step you should have completed Step Two - payment and online application. If you have not completed Step Two, we will be unable to proceed with your application.

Please note this method of ID verification is the cheapest available to our applicants, however there is an alternative.
The Post Office charge £7.15 over the counter to use their “ID Checking Service”. Please note, the Post Office will only verify the following documents:
Recent utility bills (within 3 months)
Recent bank statements (within 3 months)

Please note: It is a criminal offence to impersonate another person, assist in an impersonation of another person, or attempt to do so. Fines and/or imprisonment can result. If we suspect you are impersonating someone else we will report the matter to the police.
Once you have submitted your application and identification documents to Capita you will receive an email (if you supplied an email address within e-Bulk) with tracking details for your application. Once completed by the DBS you should receive your enhanced certificate in the post within 6 weeks. Please note this is an indicative timescale. If you do not receive your certificate within 6 weeks, please contact the DBS on 0870 90 90 811 selecting option 1.
Ofsted may contact you and request the original copy of your certificate.
